   The Mooer SD30i is a great amp! The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is how nice it looks and how solid it feels, and it also has a very nice carrying strap. I charged it up briefly to full charge and downloaded the iAMP app on my iPad. It was very easy to connect the iPad to the amp to access full control of all parameters. The amp has some settings you can adjust right on the amp as well. It is a compact amp with a big sound, and it sounds awesome! There are SOOO many amp models to choose from, and they all sound good. For a high gain sound, I like not only finding a great high gain amp but also running one of the overdrive pedals (like MTL Zone) into a clean amp. The compressor works great as well as the auto wahs. I really love the modulations. I’m particularly loving the ring mod right now…sounds alien! Great delays and reverb to top it all off. It’s got some good, though fairly basic, rhythms on the drum machine to help with practice or inspire some riffs. The 80sec looper is handy if you come up with a cool riff and want to practice soloing over it. I really love that the SD30i can also be used as a stereo bluetooth receiver to play audio from a smartphone or iPad, perfect for playing along or just for listening. The bluetooth audio does not go through the guitar amp section. Be sure to charge it for 30 minutes upon first receiving it. Then turn it on and start jamming! Caution: each amp will load with its own default settings, including volume, so be mindful of volume spikes if you are playing at high volumes. I think you really get a lot for your money with this amp, given the wide variety of amps, effects, a looper and drum machine, tuner, and 30W of awesome power.

   This is a really great and fun practice amp. No matter your playing level, whether you are a beginner or advanced. I honestly didn’t have super high expectations but this has really impressed me.

   First of all it looks great. The covering is really classy and would look good just sitting in your living room.

   Second, the amount of options this has is incredible. A whole bunch of amp simulations to choose from, a bunch of effects to choose from, (modulation, reverb, delay, auto wah, compressor, etc). The amp sims sound great and the effects are great as well.

   The app is definitely a huge plus to have, it opens up a ton more controls and options. It aids in saving presets. But it is not necessary.
   You can just plug in and jam and still have some effects available and control the equipment, gain, and volume from the control panel of the amp. Which is very nice.

   And the fact that it has a battery so you can take it wherever and practice or jam with a friend is super cool.

   Does it sound like a tube amp? No. It sounds like a VERY good practice amp. The fact that it’s running 4 inch speakers kind of eliminates the chance of feeling it rumble your chest. But it does sound very good and is fun to play. It is a very good option for playing at home or jamming along with an acoustic guitar. Highly recommend this SD30i.

   The Hornet05i mini amp is excellent in every way! It’s very small, lightweight, and portable, perfect for travel or space saving; but it doesn’t sound small! The overall tone and bass response are really, really good and very pleasing. And I can’t believe how loud it can get! and it still sounds really good at louder volumes. All of the settings are controlled with the easy-to-use iAMP app, connected to your amp via Bluetooth. It’s very simple to set up. You can also stream audio to the amp over Bluetooth. There are many amp models available, varying in tone and gain/distortion level, so you are sure to find something that fits the genre of your choice. And you can of course adjust the gain and tone of each one. The effects are all excellent and fully adjustable within the app. The provided presets are inspiring right out of the box, but it’s easy to create your own presets. The drum beats are a lot of fun, and the looper is very handy. I might pick up the Mooer F4 footswitch later on to facilitate the use of the looper and preset switching. Quick battery charge and then I’m ready to go. I used a Samsung rapid charger (which provides 3A of current). Use a 5V USB-C power adapter with at least 2A according to instructions. I am very pleased with my purchase of the Mooer Hornet05i.

   Let’s start with the bad news…the bad news is now I have absolutely no use for my Boss Katana Mini Amp. Dust is already starting to collect on it as I write.

   Bad news done.

   The-all good news…The HO5i – HORNET. Wow, wow, and wow! This is an amazing piece of work. First off, it sounds awesome at ANY volume level, making it an excellent practice, travel, and jamming unit. The app is sooo easy to link up and use, and has so many options from amp models to efx to tones to OD, and then some…all intermixable in addition to folders and folders of different sound/player models, ie blues to ‘Angry Eddie’. The one knob design is so simple making it easy and simple to operate and tweak things right from your smart phone. Using it with a wireless, not included, mine is from MOOER-which is awesome too btw, and it’s an even better setup. The build construction is solid. The charge up time is quick and lasts for about 4-5 hours, even the bottoms nubs are great…nonslip and won’t tip over. I can’t believe all of this comes in a little amp and an app. Check it out. So worth it on so many levels. Good job MOOER! A well balanced product.
